About Top Spin Web Design

A little bit about me and how I became a website designer

About me

Top Spin Web Design is a web design and development company based in Worcester, Worcestershire. It was set up in 2007 by Matthew Jenkins.

After spending 8 years working as an analyst programmer in Worcester, the opportunity arose to take a slight change in my career path. My wife went back to work full time, whilst I took over the childcare duties of our two boys. With one at school and the other at nursery 2 days a week I had the free time to set up Top Spin Web Design.

My two main design goals in building a web site are firstly that it should be usable by and accessible to as many people as possible and secondly that it should be quick and easy to update. The first goal is achieved by ensuring that the code is standard compliant, largely by using XHTML and CSS. The second goal is also achieved in this way, but also by building database driven web sites. Database driven sites, in my case using PHP and MySQL, allow functionality such as content management systems (CMS) and image galleries, thus allowing you to update your own site.

Powered by renewable energy

Solar Powered Design

A unique selling point of commissioning Top Spin Web Design to build your website is the fact that two-thirds of our total household electricity is produced by the PV (Photovoltaic) solar panels sitting on the roof of our house.

Thus, the time spent working on my computer adds very little CO2 to the environment, which is a major cause of global warming. If you'd like your internet site to demonstrate your green credentials, then Top Spin Web Design may be the answer.

Also, when visiting local clients, I try to cycle, rather than use our EV car.

The website hosting uses 100% renewable energy to power its servers.
